Home care and technology: a Case Study

Abstract: This seminar will present a project associated with the "Smart Home" research facility at Univ of Alberta in Edmonton. Modeling of workflows between Health Care Aides working in homecare support, led to development of an ICT based environment to support and enhance interactions both within the careteam, and between humans and technology.

Biography: As an occupational therapist, Dr. Liu worked with adults with dementia and mental health conditions. Her graduate work examined cognitive and functional assessments for individuals with spatial disorientation associated with dementia. She joined the University of Alberta in 1992 and assumed the position of Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy in 2008.
